5 ways to get more traffic to your website (5 minute read)

Have you ever wondered why no one is visiting your website? is it because your product isn’t appealing? is it because your prices are too high? Before you let those fears creep into your mind ask yourself this question first. Have you actually made an intentional effort to get people to visit your website? Here is a brief list of some simple things you can do encourage more visitors to your website.

1.Take out a Facebook Ad

Facebook offers multiple low-cost effective ways to get more traffic to your website for as little as R10 a day, there is no excuse not to be using Facebook ads to grow your business. Facebook also helps you to target certain demographics to show your advertisements for example you can tell Facebook to advertise to 18 – 24 year old women if those are the people most likely to purchase your product. You can also target your ads to show in certain countries and regions.

2. Launch a Google Ad

As a web design and marketing firm owner one of the questions I hear most often from clients is “how do I get my business website to show first on google results”. Well, the answer to that question might be a R1 million – R3 million answer but thankfully once again the people at Google have come up with an excellent affordable solution for small business owners.

Simply take out a google ad it costs as little as R10 a day and at certain times of the day your business will appear at the top of the google search results. There is even a section where you can choose the “search phrases” that will lead clients to your website…. for example if someone googles “E-Commerce Website” one of my Google Ads will show in the search results. 3. You can try good old S-E-O

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a term that is widely used in the web development community. This is simply a way of organizing your website so that google will quickly index the data on it and show the customer to the right web page to help the client find the solution to there problem.

This could be done an as simply as using meta tags on your website products which are key words that will help Google to understand what your page is about. Also your images on your website can be optimized to load faster and many more techniques can be used. 4. Blogging and producing content

That’s what I’m doing right now (I take practice what you preach to the next level). There are clients out there looking for experts in their fields, people who can help clients overcome whatever problem they face in their lives. Your business might have the solution to the problem but first they have to find you. If you are constantly giving away your expertise for free people will know about you and have you in their minds when they make their next purchase. It sounds like it should work the other way around, shouldn’t you charge people for your expertise….Nope…. not in the internet age. First help your potential clients and then they will reward you by becoming your actual clients.

5. LinkedIn Marketing

I have found LinkedIn ads to be one of the best and most underused tools for business to business marketing. The amount of high level corporate decision makers on LinkedIn is incredible, why not take advantage of that resource by launching a LinkedIn ad campaign it is more expensive than the other mediums discussed here but I think you will find it very rewarding.
